Welcome to Bella Vista’s July 2010 Newsletter

Typically 4th of July is my brother's holiday to celebrate with the family. He is the first of three "nutcases", who each have inherited a holiday in which a whole spectacular or maybe I should say spectacle is put on for the entire family..........but it is totally done in the name of fun! Each year starting in January, Zeke will put money aside till he is ready to order his pallet worth of fireworks, even Mom and Dad chip in for the "cause." Although, my parents main duty is picking up the pallet of fireworks and then safely delivering it to Zeke's house; which when that occurs, it is almost time to party. On the 4th, usually the family will arrive at his house before sunset in order to fill our bellies with all kinds of food and of course drinks............then once the sun goes down the magic begins. Citronella ticki torches are lit, lawn chairs are dragged out.........sparkler in one hand, drink in the other, let the show begin! Oohs and Ahhs take over, along with screaming kids running inside to Maw Maw. The magic of fireworks, and family (and not having the neighborhood go up in flames) That is 4th of July!

Did you all know that Asheville has an incredible literacy program? We do; it is called the Literacy Council of Buncombe County. This August 27th the council is having a silent auction at the Renaissance Hotel, and the key note speaker will be John Hart. (I am now reading "King of Lies", and I can't wait to find out who the killer is) Also, the Gallery is donating a painting by Trinity St. James for the Silent Auction. We hope you all will come out and support this wonderful cause. We will most definintely be there!

July is filled with fun things to do: fireworks, art market in downtown Asheville, Southern Highlands Craft Fair.

We hope you all have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Check out some of my favorite artworks currently in the Gallery: Suzanne Kane, "Bloom" stoneware and porcelain. I love Suzanne's use of texture and tension. Tracy Lynn Prista's light and airy landscape, "Dramatic Shimmering". We love the luscious oil paint!
