Patsy Gilbert
Statement
These abstract paintings are influenced by my having lived in Africa and Indonesia for several years. There I grew to love the old, rough, un-repaired walls and buildings, which revealed some of their history. Warm colors that reflect the climates of these areas are also a part of this past. The softened edges and muted colors give the paintings a sense of age. A retreat from the new and bright appeals to me.
